I use my w/mo hammer build all the time for PvE. 16 in hammer, 13 in strength--all hammer skills, with frenzy and sprint. With a decent healing monk, or heal/prot monk, I am golden.

I suggest using a W/N with plague touch (no attributes needed) helps with blind

Signet of Agony
plague Touch

puts bleeding for a long time on your opponent, and lets you use an axe if you wish

That may work. Uses 3 skills instead of 2 though, and adds another attribute (blood) into the mix that I haven't been using. Also requires the expenditure of 5 energy and 10% health each time to get Virulence on them. At least the signet and Virulence have the same recharge time so will be ready together.

Hamstring for the cripple + Virulence doesn't produce the same degen but would help keep the monster close if hit by an aoe. Also costs 10+5 to use so could get expensive for a warrior. Sever + Hamstring + Virulence may be a good option: sever when they bleed, hamstring when they don't.

I'll try it and decide which I prefer, thanks for the suggestion.

I tried various configs on my virulence warrior last night...

I did not care for using Hamstring, although there were no AoE's in use by our team. Still it costs too much and not enough critters run to justify the cripple.

Sever + Virulence is still a good combo. With either of these option you have to hit to inflict the condition and if the critter has a stance or something going you may whiff a bit.

Agony + Touch + Virulence works very good as you don't have to hit them and they are fairly hard to interrupt. So stances, wards, riposte, etc are not an issue. Keeping Plague Touch handy is nice - a ranger uses Throw Dirt, you just give it back. Caught in Eruption, take the blind and give it to the sand golem. I was doing more damage with this combo than with the axe, actually.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
